Great mower, but slightly disappointing build quality, for the price.

Decided on a (relatively) expensive Honda for my new garden (having just moved house). Slightly disappointed with the build quality - various bits fell off within the first few weeks use (the knob on the throttle control, a nut from the cowling on the back roller - never did find it in the grass, so had to replace. Another nut from somewhere else. Haven't discovered where, yet which is slightly worrying!). Haven't found starting as easy as I thought I would, either - seems to take a good half a dozen pulls. Also, the aperture into the grass collection box seems to clog very easily, causing cuttings to gather around the blade and stall the engine. This might be the lip of the collection box, as it seems to have pushed upwards rather easily. Other than that, cuts beautifully and chugs along at a nice pace. Certainly enjoyable to use. Overall, a nice mower. I was just hoping for better build quality. That was one of the reasons why I went for a Honda. That, and reliability. Lets hope I'm not disappointed with the latter. a good machine but very heavy to handle on rough ground

within six months the steel frame in the grass bag had two broken welds, clearly poor manufacturing! It was replaced free, but meant a double trip to the dealership ten miles away and a week waiting.
I liked the machine a lot at first but am finding it very heavy to handle over anything but a really smooth lawn and a full grass bag takes some emptying too, several vigorous shakes of around 20Kg of grass at head height (when the heap is getting full). After three years the self-propelled drive has just failed, fair wear and tear? The blades need sharpening, but they leave the grass shredded when blunt. The cut seems slightly deeper on one side than the other, not sure now much but the stripes show it up. Overall maybe 7 out of ten. Review by Peter Hardy

The first rotary Honda Lawnmower I have bought, very pleased so far with the performance. Easier to use than the heavy cylinder mower I have and does the job quicker. Review by David Cook
